During your session, you lay on a comfortable mat on the floor, wearing loose and comfortable clothing. The therapist uses hands, thumbs, elbows, knees, and feet to apply rhythmic pressure and stretches. This promotes flexibility, improves circulation, and relieves muscle tension. Thai massage induces deep relaxation and mindfulness, reducing stress and anxiety. It is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, offering a holistic approach to healing and rejuvenation.

Cupping Massage

The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and calm the nervous system. Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, and rheumatism.

As an IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation), these tools can amplify the effects of a therapist's hands. It can help with precision and be used at any level of massage for issues such as tightness, stress, injury and more. IASTM tools can be used with delicacy and very little pressure all the way to intense. As always, it depends on what you and your therapist think you need for your specific issues/areas and comfort level.

Again, though not just for more extreme needs, it is especially effective when dealing with scar tissue, adhesions, and fascial restrictions. IASTM can take the massage to another level. These tools can promote blood circulation to an injury and help break up adhesions and other restrictions. As one client recently said: "I've never been able to feel so much in a massage!"

Reflexology

Massage may include a combination of Swedish (Relaxation) and Deep Tissue. This massage includes an extra 15 min. of Reflexology.
Targeting pressure points on the feet, reflexology is an excellent way to add another layer of relaxation to your massage.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha and jade rolling are ancient face and body techniques used as a beauty secret in ancient Egypt, China, and Greece to maintain youthful beauty, promote blood circulation, promote lymphatic drainage, and smooth puffiness and fine lines. A treatment can give you more lifted, sculpted features, help reduce outward signs of aging, soothe dark circles, and give a fresh, rosy complexion.

Hot Stone

Heated stones "melt" muscle tension. Hot stones are strategically placed over areas of tension and incorporated into the massage techniques. Benefits include deep relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue, improved circulation which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury, daily stress relief and muscle toning.

Auto Claims

Massage can help with whiplash, neck pain, headaches, knee injuries, spinal cord injuries, and the stress and trauma that can plague us after a car accident.

You will need to submit a referral letter with diagnostic codes from your doctor or chiropractor prior to 1st massage.

Pregnancy and Postpartum

Depending on where you are in your pregnancy, your therapist will use a combination of techniques to alleviate muscle and joint aches, ease back pain and headaches, decrease edema, improve sleep, and decrease anxiety or depression caused by hormonal changes. Make sure to tell your therapist your main challenges.

Born and raised in Erie, Carl (PA#MSG012724) loves massage therapy because of the effects it has on both client and therapist, especially on the therapeutic end. He graduated from Great Lakes Institute of Technology in 2018, and quickly fell in love with the self-satisfaction and peace each session leaves the therapist with. One of his favorite things is being able to help people feel better throughout the entire treatment, from the initial intake to after-session care. He’s now been a part of Monacella’s team for over five years!

He’s known for deep tissue and injury relief by many, with a focus in the shoulders and low back. Coming from a background caring for animals, Abby (PA#MSG012460) felt drawn to practices like massage therapy from a young age. Working with horses, she came across some with muscular injuries –like ‘Snickers’, who had thrown his back out– and wanted to find a way to help them herself. What started with the idea of “healing hands” flourished after her graduation from Great Lakes Institute of Technology, and led to a path of discovery through the muscles that make up a person.

Though accessories and tools such as our IASTM and Theragun services can enhance her talents, she loves that she doesn’t need anything other than her own two hands to get someone back on their feet again. One of the most rewarding parts of massage for her as a therapist is getting to fit the puzzle of someone’s pain back together with her own intuition and knowledge. This work is especially rewarding for her in the neck and shoulders!

When she’s not in session, you can find her playing piano at various gigs in the area, or horseback riding at her local stable!

“If I could teach people anything it would be patience. In such a everything-at-your-fingertips world, we have to remember to relax, slow down, and enjoy life! And this is a big reason why I love being a massage therapist. It allows me to be free — to enjoy life and in the work itself, which is an art, always to be appreciated and never again to be duplicated. People always leave feeling better than when they arrived, which is such a great feeling for the therapist and gives life meaning.”

“My absolute favorite place is the ocean. I love the salty air, the unpredictability of the waves, and the roar of the water as a new cycle begins with the wave’s push and pull. The feeling of the sand around my feet, and as it falls from my hands around my fingers. In a world viewed like an hourglass of sand, where we have to hurry to live.. slow down and realize the beauty life has to offer us. Look down a beach and take in the fact that life has to offer us endless possibilities – you just have to believe in yourself.”
